Gold-clad porcelain of the Chenghua reign in the Ming Dynasty is a rare porcelain craftsmanship that emerged during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. With porcelain as its body, it adopts the gilding technique on the inner wall of the vessel, perfectly integrating the luxury of gold with the elegance of porcelain to form a distinctive artistic style. Chenghua gold-clad porcelain mainly consists of small-sized wares, which are delicate, exquisite, round and graceful. The gilded parts often echo the patterns on the porcelain body. The main decorative motif is the radial alum red treasure flowers, with fully stretched petals and plump lines—these are common auspicious patterns on imperial porcelain of the Ming Dynasty.
