Guanyao Kaikai Guan'er Bottle is a classic display porcelain of Guanyao, one of the five famous kilns in the Song Dynasty. It represents the highest aesthetic of the Song Dynasty's "Great Way to Simplicity". The shape of Guan'er Bottle is not created out of thin air, but imitates bronze teapots from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties to the Han Dynasty. Throwing a pot was a ritual used by ancient literati during banquets. The Song Dynasty advocated for retro style, and official kilns transformed this solemn bronze ritual vessel into porcelain display items, reflecting the aesthetic taste of Song literati who valued antiquity and elegance. The official kiln was established by the Southern Song Dynasty in Hangzhou (such as the Xiu Nei Si kiln and the Jiao Tan Xia kiln), and its products were exclusively used by the court and not circulated in the market. Therefore, the surviving complete vessels are extremely rare and precious. It combines the dignified design of northern official kilns with the thick glaze technology of southern Longquan kilns, representing the highest level of celadon production in the Song Dynasty. Overall, the open cut ear piercing vase from the official kilns is not only a piece of porcelain, but also the crystallization of Song Dynasty aesthetic ideas, retro trends, and top-notch porcelain making techniques
