It inherits the characteristic glaze of Ru ware known as 'sky blue after rain,' with a fine and glossy body and glaze, representing the exquisite craftsmanship of the Kaifeng Prefecture official production system. It serves as tangible evidence of the utensils used in the imperial court during Huizong's era. The vase's shape is modeled after the guan-eared ritual bronzes of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, reflecting the Northern Song philosophy of 'reviving antiquity and valuing ritual' in its design.
