/In the splendid galaxy of Chinese ceramic art, "soft-paste enamel" is renowned for its delicate and rosy hues, while "openwork" and "revolving center" techniques represent the pinnacle of ceramic shaping craftsmanship. The outer bottle features exquisite hollowed-out carvings on its belly, with circular or hibiscus-shaped "windows" left un-carved on the lattice-patterned surface to complement the paintings on the inner bottle, directing the viewer's gaze. This requires artisans to carve on extremely thin porcelain clay, which is highly prone to collapsing or warping during firing, resulting in an extremely low yield rate—hence the saying, "A thousand pieces of gold cannot buy a hollowed-out bottle." The "windows" display fluid, surging seawave patterns rendered in blue-green glazes to evoke a sense of turbulent waves, symbolizing "peace in all seas." Two golden-red fish swim gracefully through the azure waters, their dynamic poses and meticulously detailed scales create lifelike expressions. The word "fish" (鱼) phonetically resembles "surplus" (余), embodying the wishes of "abundance year after year" and "prosperity in excess." The seawave-and-fish motif further carries auspicious meanings like "fish leaping over the dragon gate" and "a house full of gold and jade.". This famille-rose enamel openwork window vase with marine fish motifs combines exceptional craftsmanship and artistic aesthetics, embodying the noble elegance of imperial porcelain while incorporating auspicious themes beloved by the public. It is not merely a exquisite piece of porcelain, but also a frozen history worthy of every collector's appreciation and preservation.
