16th to Early 17th Century: A gilt-bronze statue of Mahakala (the Great Black One) in Tibetan Buddhism, featuring three heads, six arms, and six legs. The total height is 44 cm; the body and base are detachable. The main figure is 39 cm tall and weighs 9 kg, while the base is 5 cm high and weighs 6 kg. This statue is exquisitely crafted, imposing in stature, and majestic in presence. With its three heads, six arms, and six legs, flaming hair, eyebrows, and beard, each face has three wide-eyed glares and an open mouth roaring in anger. It holds complete ritual implements. Particularly remarkable is the robust and powerful depiction of the muscles in the faces, arms, and legs, highlighting its identity as the wrathful manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, known as the 'Lord Protector' (Gonpo). It is believed to subdue demonic obstacles and assist practitioners in achieving ultimate spiritual accomplishments, embodying the divine authority of the foremost protective deity in Buddhism. This statue is a genuine, exquisite, and rare masterpiece among representations of Mahakala.
