This belt buckle adopts the auspicious "Success All the Way" (homophonic with lotus pattern) motif, embodying the cultural essence of "craftsmanship integrating with auspicious omen" of ancient ornaments. The bronze body of the belt buckle is formed via the "mold casting technique", with a firm texture as dense as "mature copper" and a condensed purple patina showing the characteristic of "well-patinated condition"; the buckle body is inlaid with Hetian white jade, which is warm and waxy like "coagulated fat", decorated with patterns using the "openwork ground-cutting technique": auspicious birds perching on lotus flowers, with feather patterns incised with the sharpness of "iron wire coiling strokes", and hidden brocade ground patterns showing the essence of "density and sparsity complementing each other". The inlaid mouth adopts the "filigree border inlay" system, with exquisite integration of bronze and jade, conforming to the standard of "inlay craftsmanship"; the buckle teeth open and close in a "reed leaf style", with the mechanism hidden in the bronze body, showing the concept of "hiding craftsmanship in utility" of ornaments at that time. It is a classic of "craftsmanship carrying auspicious omens" for ancient ornaments; the pattern implicitly echoes the wishes of gentry in the imperial examination era. Collecting it reveals the evolution of ornament craftsmanship, and appreciating it shows the harmony between craftsmanship and auspicious omens, making it a rare model for studying the cultural context of ornaments.
